Developing a new fishery in New Zealand
Tasman Harvesters Ltd is a NZ company that was launched in November 2018 with the objective of developing a sustainable deep sea crab fishing business in NZ waters.
The company operates the FV Seamount Enterprise, currently based at Tauranga, with a NZ skipper and NZ crew.
The vessel was converted to a specialised crab pot fishing vessel during 2019, and the first exploratory voyages took place in October 2019.
We have plans to further develop the local NZ market for deep sea crabs working with wholesalers supplying restaurants and by direct sales, along with exports to overseas markets.
